How to support #GrowthKills
Growth Kills is a campaign of civil disobedience actions, targeting the assumption that economic growth must continue at all cost. Small groups are starting to talk about a post-growth world, but the campaign goal is to get the people on the street talking about it. The detailed campaign narrative is available on our homepage (https://growthkills.org/). The campaign is ongoing.
If you’re looking to support Growth Kills personally, we need you! We don’t have capacity at the moment to organise ‘welcome’ events, but please contact us, follow us on social media or make a donation.
We invite any organization that approves of our narrative to support the campaign, which can be done in different ways (listed from higher level of support to lower level of support):
1. Join our coalition: organize your own civil disobedience action
This campaign consists of civil disobedience actions organized by different organizations. Any organization or individual can organize their own action in the name of this campaign, as long as you agree with our principles & values. An action toolkit has been created (incl. principles & values) to support the organization of actions in the best way possible. It’s essential to communicate the actions being organized to us (contact@growthkills.org) so that we are aware of which organizations are joining the coalition, we can support your action and we can avoid action overlaps.
By joining our coalition, this means we can mention your organization in the press and on our website as part of the campaign. Additionally it would be helpful if your organization can show their support by sharing our actions on your social media page (not necessarily limited to your own organized action).
2. Join our coalition: participate in a civil disobedience action
If you don’t have the capacity to organize your own action, but would still like to be in the front row, you can join one of the actions already being organized. Since information about the planned actions cannot be made public, we cannot share this here. If you are interested to join, please contact us at contact@growthkills.org and we can discuss the upcoming actions.
By joining our coalition, this means we can mention your organization in the press and on our website as part of the campaign. Additionally it would be helpful if your organization can show their support by sharing our actions on your social media page (not necessarily limited to only the action you participated in).
3. Join our coalition: only in name
If you don’t have the capacity to neither organize nor participate in an action, but still very much agree with the narrative, it’s possible to join our coalition only in name for communication purposes. By joining our coalition, this means we can mention your organization in the press and on our website as part of the campaign. Additionally it would be helpful if your organization can show their support by sharing our actions on your social media page.
4. Statement of support
If you agree with our narrative, but not necessarily want to be mentioned as part of the coalition, it’s still possible to show your support. This can be in any form as you prefer. Some suggestions are listed here:
- Open letter supporting the campaing & narrative
- Social media post (or simply sharing our posts)
- Mention in our press release as ‘organisation x agrees with the narrative of the GrowthKills coalition’
- Handing out flyers
- Putting op posters
- …
5. Other
The options mentioned above are by no means exhaustive. If you envision a different way to support the campaign, don’t hesitate to contact us and we’d be happy to discuss together.
